1. Start From the Roots: Your scalp is like the soil of a garden. If it is not right, the “garden” or hair will NOT grow! Pay attention to things like itching, dandruff, build-up, sweat, and open irritation as signs that you may not have a healthy scalp.
2. From the Inside Out: It ABSOLUTELY matters what you put inside of your body, when it comes to your hair. How is your Diet? How much medication are you taking? Do you drink enough water? How is your stress level? Hair can show you that there may be something off INTERNALLY.
3. Seasonal Changes: At least Four times a year, or every time the seasons change you should be getting a check-up with a hair professional. A licensed professional can see what areas may need to be fixed including recommended treatments, color services, trims, etc. We went to school for a reason so LET US HELP YOU!!
4. Expired Products: If something has been opened, the shelf-life is usually six months to one year. Pay attention to see if your products have changed in smell, consistency, color, or texture. If it has, THROW IT OUT!
5. Read the Labels: Sometimes less is MORE. Ingredients in products can give you clues to what it does or why you need to use it. You GOOGLE everything else, so look up what ingredients are in your products. Sometimes you may surprise yourself if you actually have a quality product. (Too many synthetic ingredients can cause damage to your hair)
6. Leave it to the Professionals: Some things like chemical services (Color, Highlights, Relaxers, etc.) or even some protein treatments or Keratin services are advised to be performed by a licensed professional. This way you know that the service will be done correctly and will not damage your hair.
7. Regular Treatments: Protein treatments for strength, Deep conditioners for moisture, Basic conditioning for softening & detangling.
8. Take your Vitamins: Key vitamins must be regulated in the body to ensure hair growth. Try to get as much of your vitamins and minerals from food, but supplement when necessary to keep the body and hair healthy.
9. Never TOO MUCH: Rotate all habits, styles, and products so that your hair is never being abused. Too much of anything is never a good thing.
10. Don’t Worry…It’s only Hair: Try not to stress over the thoughts of losing hair, growing hair, thinning hair, etc. Stress can often lead to the problem getting worse. Calmly get into a routine so that you can have control and enjoy your healthy haircare journey!
